Instead of using this method scientists began focusing on new methods to produce insulin
Method:
- mRNA is seperated from pancreatic tissue
- A complimentary strand is synthesised using reverse transcriptase
- With the addition of DNA polymerase and DNA nucleotides a second strand is built. Now a copy of the original gene has been made and is now called the CDNA gene
