Some key facts:

The second hung parliament since the second world war. 

The coalition government was formed as was the first coalition in British history to eventuate directly from an election outcome. 

Coalition talks started ammediatly after the election and took 5 days. 

Gordon brown resigned from the labour party, ending 13 years of labour in power. 

None of the leaders in the election had run in a general election before, this hadnt happened since 1979.

The first time television debates had ever taken place. Nick Clegg became so ppopular as he was such a good speaker and was seen as the winner of the debates. However, their vote share only increased by 1% and they lost 5 seats. 

Greens won their first ever seat.
