Introduction

• Sunday 9th January, large crowd of 150,00 wokers demonstrated outside the Tsar's Winter Palace in the Russian capital, St Petersburg
• It was a peaceful demonstration where the workers wanted to present a petition to the Tsar
• Petition asked for:

1. Reforms (e.g. end to Russo Japanes War)
2. Expanded suffrage (right to vote in political elections)
3. 8-hour working day
4. Higher pay
