Social and Legal Position of Women in 1890s
Working Class Women
- 1870, before, most working class women did not go to school.
- In 1880, made compulsory for children to attend school.
- Girls were taught their roles in society.
- Working class women went to work.
- Towards the end of the nineteenth century many new jobs were prepared.
Middle + Upper Class women
- Girls from richer families were educated at home.
- Main aim to make them good wives and mothers.
