What forms a Protein?
- Monomers of proteins are amino acids.
- Dipeptide is formed when two amino acids join.
- Polypeptide forms when more than two amino acids join.
- Proteins are made of one or more polypeptides.
Amino Acid Strucutre
- All amino acids conntain the same carboxyl group (-COOH), an amine group (-NH2) & a carbon containing R-group (variable group).
- Except glycine that has only a hydrogen atom in it's R-group.
- All organisms share the same bank of 20 diffferent amino acids.
- The only difference between each amino acid is the R-group.
