Systems in physical geography
A model - idealised representation of reality
A system - interrelated events or components working together (consists of inputs, stores and outputs, with a series of flows or connections between them)
- Isolated System - things outside the system do not affects the inputs, outputs or stores of the system. (No input or output of energy or matter) E.G. Universe
- Closed System - Energy can be transfered in and out of a system but matter cannot E.G. The World
- Open System- Energy and matter can be transfered in and out of the system E.G. Ecosystems
- Subsystem - A component of a larger system. The Earth system has 5 subsystems, all of them are open systems…
