Wundt

• Opened the first experimental lab for Psychology in 1897

• Opened his lab in Germany

• He was dubbed the 'Father of Psychology' 

• Wundt aimed to break down behaviours into their basic form (structuralism)

• Wunted also created Introspection.

Wundt asked participants (pps) to a focus on a metronome and recall their concious thoughts, feelings,emotions and sensations.

This was the first attempt at a controlled method and lead to psychology becoming a science within the 5 features of science.

Evaluation of Introspection

• Introspection is subjective so they can't create general principles of behaviour.
• Results cannot be replicated by others.
• Cannot recall unconcious behaviours.
• Challenged by behaviourism (not objective, measurable or observable behaviour).
