Writing to Argue- what to include

  • Build up arguments, then knock them down with counter arguments
  • Introduction summarising issue
  • Use statistics to back up your points (these can be made up!)
  • Use anecdotes (personal stories) to make a point (these can be made up too...)
  • Use lists of three
  • Use good connectives
  • Make sure to put 2 points of view across
  • Finish on a strong ending, putting across your point of view
  • Rhetorical questions
  • Topic sentences
  • Use these techniques:
    • Alliteration
    • Emotive language
    • Varied sentence structure
    • Other applicable poetic techniques
