Research is almost always lab experimentation. Therefore, positive evaluation points of this method include. 

Control - Usually employs independent measures design, meaning trial materials (such as quality of evidence, length and complexity) can all be controlled for.

Replicability - Other researchers can replicate the work in other parts of the world, which adds to the reliability of the findings.

Cause and Effect - Can infer this if rigorous controls (such as those above) employed.
