Water is a solvent - chemicals can dissolve in it

The ions that dissolve in water are

- Sodium

- potassium

- ammonium

- nitrates

- sulphates

- chlorides

The amount of solute that can be dissolved in a solvent is the solubility of the substance.

It is usually measured in g per 100g of water (solvent) at a certain temperature

Most gases are soluble.

The solubility of most solids increase with the temperature.
