World War One

Tsar went to the Front Line to rally morale - Failure 

- Left the Tsarina and Rasputin in St Petersburg - unable to control bread shortages, discontent and rife with hatred for Rasputin's relationship with the Royal Family 

  • Impact: 

Economic and societal effect 

- Inflation increased due to impact on industry and grain exports 

- 1.5 million desertions by 1916 

- Non-Military industries fell sharply due to demand of the war
