Theme of family bonding throughout 

Parental love "love is proved in the letting go"In final line the poem is conclusive by showing a place of acceptance for the speaker 'letting go' trusting his child and therefore love is evident 

Nature "A half fledged thing set free /into the wilderness"young birds represesnted as "half fledged"showing the child reminds th reader that nature also seperates a parent from their child when they later reach maturity

Rhyme scheme abaca uses monosylabics 'day','play','away'Shows the feelings are uncomplicated but raw and with a 1st person persona directly to th child gives an intimate feel to the poem emphasisng the family bonding theme
