• Different places have dfferent laws
• Lengthy process to make new laws

• Interested in the wefare of the poorer people
• Want America to focus on problems at home
• Popular among non - white voters and in urban areas

Republicans:

• Right wing
• Interested in the welfare of richer people
• Want America to have strong armed forces and fight enemies around the world
• Popular among white voters and in rural areas
