Medieval (1250-1500)

The population lived evenly in towns and in the countryside. There weren't any huge congregations of people living together like there is in cities. Although, as the period progressed, more and more people started to move to the towns from the country resulting in overcrowding in the towns.

Industrial Revolution (1750-1900)

Mass urbanisation put the housing industry under stress for them to be able to provide enough houses for the vast influx of people living in towns and cities in the hopes o getting a job. As a result, houses were built very close to each other, many without waste or water facilities. Most houses were very poorly built and maintained which left them falling apart.

Modern (1900-now)

Almost everyone lives in towns or cities now and many Commonwealth citizens have moved to Britain and vice versa. This means that the population has become more diverse and that communities are becoming larger and larger.
