Or vertically extended (grandparents.) 3 of 8 Lone parent family One parent and his/her dependant children. 4 of 8 Reconstituted family New family is created after divorce or seperation. 5 of 8 Empty nest family Originally a nuclear family but the children are no longer dependant and have left home. 6 of 8 Dual worker family Both parents are working. 7 of 8 Cohabiting couple Couples that live together but arent married. 8 of 8
