Disease spreads outwardly from its source to new areas - carriers remain infected.

Disease relocates from its origins into new areas. 

E.g., chlorea epidemic, Haiti. 7000 deaths, disease carried by aid workers from Nepal.

Contagious Diffusion.

Spread via direct contact of a carrier, strongly influrenced by distance.

E.g. Ebola epidemic, West Africa, 2014-15.

Hierarchical Diffusion.

Spread via ordered sequence of places.usually form larger ot smaller, more isolated places.

Can be by transport.

E.g. H1N1 flu virus, via airplanes, killing 12,500 in the US.
