Bacterial Infection Treatments

Typhoid-

Antibiotics such as pencillin are effective against the bacteria. Though, these are not often acvaliable to the poor poeple most likely to suffer from the disease. Oral rehudration therapy is also very effective in counteracting the effect og the dehydration caused by the diarrhoea.

Tubercuolisis -

It is very diffucult to treat TB, involving long-term use of multiple anitbiotics. It can take up to 18 months to kill all the bacteria. Moreover resistance resistance of the bacteria to anitbiotics becomes a major problem. treatment is also expensive, not an option for most people with the disease.

Gonorrhoea-

It is possible to cure gonorrhoea using antibiotics. Often a person with gonorrhoea with be infected with other bacterial STDs so combinations of antibiotics are usually prescibed.

Viral Infection Treatments

Influenza-

There is little that can be done to treat the illness, apart from trying to ease the painful symptoms with painkillers. Antibiotics do not work against viruses, so the boby must destroy the virus by itself. But antibiotics may be prescribed to combat secondary bacterial infections.

Poliomyelitis-

There is no treatment for polio that can kill the poliovirus. Antibiotics or other medications for polio are not effective because polio is caused by a virus. Treatment for polio focuses on providing relief of polio symptoms such as fluids, medications to control pain and fever and rest. In most cases, after 2-10 days, polio symptoms will usually have faded completely. If polio sympotoms become more severe, treatment may have to be long term antibiotics may be added for bacterial infections as well as breathing assistance and mobility aid.

AIDS (aquired immune deficiency syndrome)

There is  no cure for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), medications have been highly effective in fighting HIV and its complications. Drug treatments help reduce the HIV virus in your body, keep your immune system as healthy as possible and decrease the complications you may develop. These drugs interrupt the virus from duplicating, which may slow the spread of HIV in the body.
