Transformers

Transformers are very simple, you just need to remember a few easy steps. Transformers always crop up so pay attention.

  • Alternating current passes through the primary coil
  • This produces a changing magnetic field in the primary coil
  • This produces a changing magnetic field passing through the secondary coil
  • Hence an alternating voltage along the secondary coil
  • so an alternating current in the secondary coil

Thanks, great notes, just wandering, do you know why an alternating current is used, is it so an alternating p.d is induced??
