Case Study

TRAID stands for Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development. They're a registered charity with three main objectives:

  • Protect Environment by diverting clothes and shoes from landfill
  • Reduce World Poverty by raising funds for overseas development projects
  • Educate the UK public on environmental and world poverty issues

They recycle, refashion and remake textiles that would have otherwise been thrown away into sustainable hand-made clothes & shoes. Everything is unique. Each season, TRAIDremade designers work on old clothes and textiles donated to TRAID to create wearable & original fashion that won't be found on the highstreet. Their target market is usually for the richer people.

They aim to shrink waste and their carbon footprint in the UK and in the developing world, funds raised support projects fighting global poverty, exploitation & environmental degradation across the textile supply chain.
