Describe the prebisch- singer hypothesis.

Prebisch- singer states that a country exporting primary commodities will suffer a deteriorating terms of trade due to the downwards trend of commodity prices in the short run. This means that the country will have to export a greater volume of goods in order to meet the volume of imports. Due to this the country will remain in a low level of development.
