the naramada dam (sardar saravor dam)

- its aim is to provide water all year round to areas in India which suffer drought.

GROUPS BENEFITTING FROM THE DAM

-people in the cities- provides 3.5 billion litres of drinking water each day and 1450 megawatts of power for electricity

-FARMERS in maharashtra will now be able to plant crops due to the water from canals making the land more fertile

GROUPS LOSING OUT BECAUSE OF THE DAM

-local villages (234) have drowned due to flooding from the scheme

-local famers are facing increasin soil sanity, making soil less useable

-historic sites have been destroyed by the dam

-weight of the large dam can trigger earth quakes, which can lead to a massive loss of life

-benefits local people by e.g providing jobs

USING COWDUNG

-produces bio gas

--fed into a brick that forms the bio gas plant. sealed with a metal dome and dung inside ferments to produce methane. The pressure builds up and pipes the methane to homes.

BENEFITS

-used in cooking and powering an electricity generator at night

-no ash so less time spent cleaning

-less time collecting fire wood

-less smoke so fewer cases of lung disease
