  • Padlock symbol. This tells you the data will be encrypted during transmission.

  • Don’t open anonymous/suspicious emails.

  • Have a Firewall-controls what data can pass through.

  • Have Anti-Virus software-quarantines a malicious object. New viruses are being made 24/7 so the software must be kept up to date.

  • Data Encryption software-encrypts data so only the people with the key can read it.

  • Automatic updates check to update constantly so the user doesn’t have to remember.

  • Manual updates can be scheduled but the user might forget.
