Citizens United v FEC

  • Ruled that when it comes to rights of political speech, corporations have the same rights as individuals.
  • That overturned federal lawas & court decisions going back to the 1947 Taft-Hartley Act which had prohibited trade unions from contributing money to federal election campaigns.

Salazar v Buono

  • The Robert Court overturned an objection to a cross that had been erected on public land in California as part of an area set aside to honor American Servicemen killed in action during WW1

McDonald v City of Chicago

  • The Court declared that the second amendment gives to Americans a fundamental right to bear arms & that the Due Process Clause of the 14th amendment means that this right cannot be infringed by state or local government.
