Key terms - the rock cycle

rock cycle - a diagrammatic representation of the interrelationship between all the 3 main rocks

rock - rocks are formed from aggregates of minerals

Crystallisation - this occures due to cooling of the magma as the temperature falls minerals reach their melting point and as the temperature fakks below this they change to solid cystals . this results in the formation of CRYSTALLINE ROCK.

weathering - is the process of physical breaking up of rock into small pieces and the chemical breakdown of rocks in situ at the earths surface.

erosion - the wearing away of any part of the earths surface by natural agencies e.g sea,rivers,wind,ice.
