Organelles surrounded by membranes

Nucleus-structure

-2 membranes with fluid between them

-surrounded by nuclear envelope

-Nuclear pore

-has chromatin

-nucleolus inside nucleus

Function:

-has the cells genetic material

-Chromatin consists of DNA and proteins ( has instructions for making proteins)

-Nucleolus makes RNA and ribosomes

Endoplasmic Reticulum

Endoplasmic Reticulum

Endoplasmic Reticulum

Structure

-Consists of flattened bound membrane sacs called cisteranae.

- ROUGH ER HAS RIBOSOMES,

-SMOOTH ER DOES NOT

Function:

Rough ER transports proteins

Smooth ER makes lipids

Golgi Apparatus

Golgi Apparatus

Structure

-A stack of membrane bound flattened sacs

Function: Recieves proteins from rough endoplasmic reticulum and modifies them

-Adds sugar molecules

-Packages the modified proteins into vesicles.

Chloroplasts

Chloroplasts

Structure: Found in plant cells

- 2 membranes seperated by a fluid filled space

Function : site of photosynthesis
