The outside layer is hard and strong tissue making the bone rigid. The inside layer is called bone marrow and it is a spongey tissue that produces red and white blood cells.

It is the same as opening agf closing a door, they cannot rotate. Examples are knee and elbow.

They go back and forth in all directions and can rotate fully. Examples are hip and shoulder.
