The farmers bride

At a time when women poets were rare and not very well respected

Suggests marraige is male dominated

Relationships which fail and physical attraction/seperation 

-"Three summers since" and later"christmas time"A sense of passing time which reflects the tragic situation is unchanged

-A strong use of Rhyme with 6 variable length stanzas

A simplistic colliqual use of language "when us was wed"

suggests lack of formal education 

"flying like a hare"(similie)the farmers bride frequently being compared to wild/narative animals confirming the rural setting of the poem and attitudes towards his wife (she needs taming)

"sweet/..to her wild self but what to me ?"

Although he admires her she has a lack of affection for him which he desires and the rhetorical question emphasises unhapiness 

"turned the key upon her fast"she is securely contained reflects the wifes escape as a rhyme scheme slows the pace and halting rythm reflects this event
