Whats happened to car manufacturing industries?
- car maufacturing people have lost their jobs to robots who assemble the cars
-Car brands have gone out of business or have been taken over by over seas companies
-however places do stil manufacture cars in the uk e.g mini which is german owned
Burberry
-british owned comapny
-however due to cheaper labour in china, has moved all but two factories to there

Whats life like in the north east?
-unemployment 11%
-poor health and over crowded
-many deaths from smoking
-lower life expectancy due to bad diets
-public secter jobs
average house hold earning £26000
what is the domino effect?
-in north east there was a large coal mining industry which employed up to 55000 men
- however coal was to expensive to mine as it was very deep, hardly any coal is produced in that region now
-the steel industry then suffered as to make steel, you need coal. So people got steel from other seas as it was cheaper
- This meant ship building collapsed as Asian countries were building larger ships with cheap labour
The domino effect is when one industry collapses , it leads to the collapse of other industries such as local businesses
What is life like in the south east?
-london salaries boost average house hold earning in the region
-earn 35% more than the north east
-have healthy foods e.g fish and fruit so live longer
-eat out more
-unemployment is 6.4%
- it jobs, biotechnology so many tertiary and quaternary jobs
deindustrialisation glasgow
due to over seas competition having cheaper labour ships were no longer being built in glasgow
-this caused steel making and mining of coal too face a decline
THIS LEAD TOO
-loss of income for workers
-loss of income for local workers and services
-less tax for goverment and more people needing benefits
-people moving away

-placing bbc head quarters of scotland here
-flats along the river side
issues with brownfield and green field site
Brownfield- area of land which has been built on before
greenfield- area of land not prevously been built on
BROWNFIELD SITES
-expensive as lots of clean up costs involved
-bad infrastructure
-polluted
-graffiti
GREEN FIELD
-close to cities
-no road or infrastructure
-home to wild life
Green employment
Green sector is attempting to improve air and water quality, recycle and reduce waste and improve enviroment
e.g by
-using renewable materials instead of plastic
-buildings which use less energy
What are the advantages and disads of flexible wor
ADV

less stress from comunicating
parents can work from home saving money on child care
