TEST FOR NEGATIVE IONS

TEST FOR CARBON DIOXIDE - LIMEWATER TEST

ACID + CARBONATE --> SALT + WATER + CARBON DIOXIDE

HALIDE IONS: 

CHLORIDE, BROMIDE, IODIDE IONS ADD DILUTE NITRIC ACID FOLLWED BY SILVER NITRATE SLOUTION.

CHLORIDE GIVES A WHITE OF SILVER CHLORIDE.

BROMIDE GIVES A CREAM OF SILVER BROMIDE. 

IODIDE GIVES A YELLOW OF SILVER IODIDE.

TEST FOR NEGATIVE IONS

SULFATE IONS:

TO TEST FOR A SULFATE ION, ADD DILUTE HCL, FOLLOWED BY BARIUM CHOLIRDE SOLUTION.

A WHITE PRECIPITATE OF BARIUM SULFATE MEANS THE ORIGINAL COMPOUND WAS A SULFATE.
