Surds.

Roots of rational numbers which cannot be expressed as rational numbers are called surds. A surd is an irrational number. EXAMPLES -
√2, √0.37, 3√10, 3+√2 , √7

 Numbers like √64, √0.25, 3√27 are not surds because the roots of each number is rational.
