Succession

-colonisation occurs by a pioneer species

- the arrival of the pioneer species results in changes being made to the environment for example the formation of soil/organic matter/increase in nutrients

-from these changes it enables other species to colonise 

- changing the diversity/biodiversity of the area

-stability increases creating a less hostile environment

- climax community
