Acute Stress - Short term e.g. Exams

Chronic Stress - Long lasting

Fight or Flight - An Human/Animal is energised to either fight or run away

SAM - Sympathetic Adrenal System

ANS - Autonomic Nervous System

SNS-Sympathetic Nervous System

ACTH-Adrenocorticotropic Hormone

Immune System- Our body's defence mechanism

White blood cell - Leukocytes

Phagocytes-

  • 1st line of defence
  • It surrounds and ingest

Lymphocytes-

T-cells

  • Matures in the thymus gland
  • Could carry disease
  • Locks onto the cell and then multiplies and destroys it

B-cells

  • Matures in the bone marrow
  • Slows down antigen for phagocytes
  • Produces antibodies
