elected by the ekklesia, supervised the kings when they were at war, they acted as cheif magistrates, had powers in foreign polices, presided the ekklesia meetings swore an oath each month to uphold powers of kings, attended gerousia meetings and were relected after one year

Male citizens over 30, voted by shouting but not allowed to debate issues, elected ephors and gerousia, adopted the generals and admirals they could grant and take away citizenship

Over 60, made up of 38 members and the 2 kings. Elected for life like by the ekklesia, wide judical powers and they proposed laws that were put to the ekklesia

one from agiad family, one from the Europontid, judical powers, chief priests and military leaders and had some powers in foreign policy
