Solicitors have right of audience in both Magistrate's Courts and county court.
Historically, they did not have rights to sit in higher courts, Eg. Crown court, High court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
Now, solicitors can apply for 'certificate of advocacy' which gives right of audience in higher courts.
