dislocation

  • this is where the bone is forced out of its normal position
  • the symptoms are: swelling, pain and diformity
  • the treatment is hospital

fractures

  • this is where a bone is broken or shattered
  • there are different types of fracture:
  • a greenstick fracture is where the bone is not split the whole way across
  • a compound fracture is where the bone comes out of the skin
  • a simple fracture is where the bone is broken the whole way across and stays within its normal positions
  • a complicated fracture is where the bone is broken in multiple places

the symptoms are: swelling, pain and diformity

the treatment is hospital

tennis and golfers elbow

  • this is an overuse injury which affects the joint and tendons at the elbow
  • tennis elbow happens from overuse of the flexing of the wrist outwards 
  • the symptoms are: pain on the outside of the elbow
  • the treatment is rest
  • golfers elbow happenes from flexing the wrist inwards to much
  • the symptoms are: pain on the inside of the wrist
  • the treatment is rest

sprains

  • this is where the ligament is damaged
  • the symptoms are: pain, swelling and bruising
  • the treatment is R.I.C.E
  • (R.I.C.E = rest, ice, compression and elevation)

cartilage tear

  • this is where the cartilage at the end of the bone ditireates or is damaged
  • the symptoms are: pain, swelling and lack of movement
  • the treatment is rest
