Diffrent Types of Settlement

Wet Point Site - Water supply is a key factor, many settlements grew up near a river or spring.

Dry Point Sites - Are found on areas of higher land, away from marshy areas or areas proned to flooding (eg.flood plains)

Defensive Sites - Originated on higher land which gave a good view of the surrounding area in case of attack.

Building materials were needed, so villages expanded where these were avalible. Materials like wood which was used in building and as fuel.

Good farming land was essential to produce food, so many villages expanded in fertile land.

Accessibility and Communctation were essential, vilages normaly expanded/grew up at bridging points, crossroads and gaps between hills.
