How fast?

  • The rate of reaction is a measure of how fast a reaction is
  • We measure this by seeing how fast the reactants are used up

Particle Size

The smaller the particles the greater the surface area the faster reaction............................BECAUSE there will be more frequent successful collisions

1 of 3

Tempurature

How does tempurature effect rate?

To react particles they must collide with sufficient energy (Activation Energy)

Increasing the tempurature increases the rate because the particles have more energy..........so MOVE FASTER so MORE FREQUENT, SUCCESFUL collisions.

Concentration

Increasing concentraion increases the rate of reaction BECAUSE............there are more particles in a given volume (more crowded particles) so there will be MORE FREQUENT COLLISIONS

.....increasing the pressure of a gas, increases the rate also
