covalant bonding is where the atoms share electrons to make a complete full outer shell this bond is very strong and requires alot of energy to break it. covalant bonding typical takes place between two non-metals.

ionic bonding takes place between a metal and a non-metal and it is the force of magnetic atraction that bonds the atoms becuause metals have a positive charge and non-metals have a negitive charge
