Random sampling

Advantages:

  • personal opinions are given by those surveyed
  • everyone has a chance of being chosen

Disadvantages:

  • may not reach appropriate people
  • very expensive

Quota sampling

Advantages:

  • cheaper than random sampling
  • people from each category have a chance from being chosen

Disadvantages:

  • may not be suitable for some products
  • some people chosen may not be appropriate for the survey

Target sampling

Advantages:

  • appropriate people are reached
  • sample is accurate

Disadvantages:

  • samples may be small
