The Christian view on - Marriage (with out qs)

To Christians, marriage is a joining of a man and woman, who come together in Holy Matrimony. They believe that Holy Matrimony reflects the union of Jesus and his followers. Jesus taught others that marriage is a lifelong union - a covenant or contract between 2 people, involving commitment and responsibility.

Christianity teaches the purpose of marriage is for 2 people to offer love, mutual support and a secure environment for procreation.

The Church recognises that not everyone is called to marriage - e.g Roman Catholic priests. From those, it demands celibacy.
