Abortion

Abortion  is  a  termination  of  a  pregancy.  A  miscarriage  is  an  abortion  caused  accidently.

The  Bourne  Case:

In  1938  Doctor  Alex  Bourne  performed  an  abortion  on  a  14  year  old  girl  who  had  been  gang  *****  by  soldiers.  He  then  gave  himself  into  the  police.  At  his  trial  the  judge  ruled  that  he  has  acted  in  good  faith  and  he  was  aquitted.

What  Christians  Think  About  Abortion

Roman  Catholics  believe  all  life  is  sacred.  They  believe  it  is  against  the  natural  law.  They  believe  that  humans  are  made  in  the image  of  God  and  so  shouldn't  be  just throw  away. The  Pope  called  abortion  a  great  moral  wrong.  Roman  Catholics  believe  that  life  begins  when  the  sperm  meets  the  egg  therefore  abortion  of  a  fetus  at any  stage  is  murder.

Church  Of  England  encourage  people  to  think  through  the  issues  of  abortion  very  carefully  and  they  will recognise  that  indiduals  will have  their  own  opinoins. Church  of  England  has  stong  oppisition  to  abortion  and  permitted  abortions  are  strict  and  many  alternative  is  prefered. 

Anglican  Church only  call  abortion  morally  legitimate  if  the  life  of  the  mother  is  threatened  by  the  pregnancy,  where  the  mother  was  *****  ot  the  child  will  be  seriously  handicapped.  Anglican  church  stress that  the  need  for  'compassion  for  the  mother  and  a  proper  responsibility,'  and  therefore  recognise  that  each  situation  is  different.

Against  Abortion 

'Not  a  potential  human  being  but  a  human  with  potential.'  Abortion  affects  God's  divine  plan. 

5th  Commandment  'Thou  shall  not  kill.'

Psalm  139:13-15  ''You  created  every  part  of  me  in  my  mother  womb,  when  my  bones  were  being  formed.....  you  knew  I  was  there.''

Genesis  1  ''Go  forth  and  multiply....  have  many  childern  and  your  desentents  will live  all  over  the  earth.''

Human  life  begins  at  conception  therefore  abortion  is  illegal.

Thousands  of  childless  couples  would  give  the  baby  a  home.

Many  women  suffer  emotionally  due  to  an  abortion.

What  about  fathers  rights?

Abortion  is  murder  of  another  human  being.

'Treat  others  as  you  want  them  to  treat  you.' - Matt  7:12

'Don't condemn  others  and  God  won't  condemn  you.  God  will  be  as  hard  on  you  as  you  are  on  others!  He  will  treat  you  exactly  as  you  treat  them.' - Matt 7:1

'I  give  you  a  new  commandment;  You  must  love  each  other  as  I  have  loved  you,' - John 13:34

'You  shall  not  kill  by  abortion  the  fruit  of  the  womb  and  you  shall  not  murder  the  infant  already  born,' - Didache.

'Human  life  is  sacred; all  men  must  recognise  that  fact,' - Pope

An  abortion  is  never  easy  but  no  one  is  better  suited  than  the  women  concerned  to  make  the  decision.

Modern science  proves  that  the  unborn  child  is  a  seperate  human  being  from  conception.  It  is  never  part  of  the mothers  body.

By  allowing  abortion  society  is  taking  the  easy  way  out.

Even  in  the  womb  the  child has  a  right  to  life.

People  with the  worst  handicaps  can  still  live  happy  lives.

Abortion  is  discrimination.

Unborn  babies  have  potential  and  their  own  personality  and  are  unique.

Abortions  can  go  wrong. They  can  leave  huge  mental  and  physical  scars  on  women.

Killing  is  killing  whether  it  is  done  in  backstreets  or  openly.

Taking  controll  of  your  own  fertility  is  everyones  right  but  there  is  no  such  thing  as  a  100%  safe  contraceptive  so  women  still  need  abortion.

Because  opinon  differs  on  when  life  begins  a  ,minority  have  no  right  to  impose  views  on  the  rest  of  us.

A  foetus  is  only  a  potential  human  life,  but  there  can  be  no agurment  over  the  humanity  of  the  women.

Doctors  have  no  special  moral  or  ethnic  training  which  makes  them  fitter  than  pregnant  women  to  make  these  sorts  of  decisions.

There  will always  be  women  who  dont  want  childern  at  all  and  that  choice  should be  respected.

No  society  has  ever  known  where  abortion  has  not  exsited  in  some  form,  no  matter  what  others  have  said.

Every  child  has  the  right  to  be  a  wanted  child.  Abortion  saves  thousands  of  childern  from  being  unwanted  and  saves  society  many  problems.

It  is  more  trauma  to  give  up  a  child  for  adoption  rather  than  abortion.

Even  if  abortion  was  a crime  thousands  of  women  would  still  take  the  risk  in  back  street  abortions.

If  a  women  is  *****  then  an  abortion  is  a  kind  and  practical  way  of  helping  her.
