WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF FORGIVENESS?

To forgive is to pardon someone for what they have done wrong.

PEOPLE SHOULD ONLY BE FORGIVEN ONCE:

Some Christians would disagree with this statement because they want to be Christ-like and Jesus always taught to keep forgiving.

A bible teaching that would show some Christians to disagree with this statement is:

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"-Micheal

This shows Christians they should not judge others if they have done wrong themselves as that would be hypocritical.

PEOPLE SHOULD ONLY BE FORGIVEN ONCE:

A biblical story that would show christians to be against this statement is when Jesus saves a adulterous woman from being stoned to death.

"Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”-John 8

This tells Christians to not judge others as they have done wrong also and have no right to not forgive others as they would expect people to show mercy for their own sins.

A few biblical teachings to show Christians to be against this statement is:

"Love your enemies." -Matthew

"Love thy neighbour." -Matthew

PEOPLE SHOULD ONLY BE FORGIVEN ONCE:

In the bible Christians are told to keep forgiving:

"Forgive seventy times seven." -Luke

This teaches Christians to not count how many times you forgive someone and just keep forgiving them always and to not count how many times someone has wronged you, just keep forgiving.

PEOPLE SHOULD ONLY BE FORGIVEN ONCE:

The Eucharist is offered on a weekly/daily basis. It is a way of gaining forgiveness and reconcilliation. As it is offered so frequently it shows Christians that if God can forgive you so many times, then you should forgive someone as many times as they need to be forgiven to be Christ-like.

PEOPLE SHOULD ONLY BE FORGIVEN ONCE:

In the Lord's prayer it says:

"forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who trespass against us."

This means that Christians forgive people who have wronged them so they can be forgiven by God. This shows that Christians should forgive people as many times as they can and never count as God forgives them everytime they pray.
