Biological: Romantic Relationship

  • Males want women with smooth skin, glossy hair, red lips, and a slim waist as it shows the woman is young and fertile 
  • Females want a partner to provide and protect offspring so they have more chance of survival 
  • When you are attracted to someone oxytocin is produced

Behaviourist: Mother and Child

Classical Conditioning:

 The child associates positive feelings with their mother: Mother = Food = Comfort

The parent associates the child with positive feelings due to the love shown 

Operant Conditioning:

· Positive reinforcement: To give sweets 

· Negative reinforcement: Put on the naughty step

· Positive punishment: To give a slap

·Negative punishment: To take a toy away

Children behave to make their parents proud and to avoid punishment by making their parents happy.

Cognitive: Pet and Owner

A pet may nuzzle/snuggle up to its owner so inputting information, which the owner processes as a reward, and so the owner will output the behaviour of giving the pet a treat.

Bowlby’s maternal deprivation hypothesis (a child depends on a mother being warm to be able to form healthy relationships in the future)
