Reducing sugars are sugars that contain aldehyde groups that are oxidised to carboxylic acids.

They

All monosaccharides such as glucose and fructose and some disaccharides such as maltose

Non reducing sugars=

  • Don't reduce copper ions
  • Common example: sucrose
