Festival/ Ritual

Traditonal

• Celebration of the past. 
• Fabric of the community. 
• Past generations have competed within the family. 

Occasional/ Annual 

• Desire to escape pressure of modern day life. 
• Return to the 'simple' 'Olde Worlde' way of life. 
• Most events are held on a bank hoilday to allow everyone to attend. 

Relatively Isolated

• Identity
• Mostly in rural areas, which allow old customs to prevail. 

Social

• Important social occasions
• Brings community together. 
• Often in the Pub- Rowdy, pub culture, mans place.

Local 

• Unique to the area. 
• Increases local pride.
• Creates a rivalry between surrounding comunities.  

Rowdy

• Often very physical games. 
• Seen as a celbration aswell. 
• Pub culture, drinking. 
• Singing and drinking. 

Tourism

• Attracted people from surrounding villages.
• Use to come by foot, however now thanks to imporved tranpsort methods more people can come from further away. 
• Many events will now recieve media coverage, which will then attract more people and businesses.
