Questions on The Big Bang

Questions critics could ask..

What caused the singularity to exist in the first place?

Since only two elements were present at the time of The Big Bang where did we get all the others from?

An explosion like this may explain stars and planets but not the beginnings of life

People and animals

People and animals

Because humans were made in the image of God and given the 'breath of life' Christians believe that humans have a soul

Animals do not have souls and therefore do not enjoy life after death

This means that human life is specail and sacred

It also means humans have duties and responsibilities that animals dont have

Christians are divided as to which uses of animals are acceptable and which are not, the bible doesnt give clear instrucstions on this, e.g what food should and should not be eaten

The envrioment

The envrioment

Bible teaches that the earth was made by God and that dominion over it was given to Adam and Eve, some Christians belkieve this means they can do whatever they like with the earth, plants, animals ect, others believe it was given to them so they could act as stewards to God

What Christians believe they should do for the earth:

Care, protect and preserve the earth and its species

Recognise that it belongs to God and that they are only looking after it

Not be greedy (take more than they need)

Not judge sucsess on how much they consume

Care for the poor and needy

Christians may therefore be active in envriomental groups/ charaties
