Who was Rasputin?

Rasputin was born in Siberia in 1869 and came from a peasant background. He was part of the Russian Orthodox Church and believed that the only person he could reach God was through his sins. This led him to becoming a travelling holy man.

Rasputin's influence

Nicholas II's son and heir, Alexei had haemophilia which meant that his blood didn't clot. Rasputin was invited by the Royal family to help Alexei using his powers. Alexei's condition seemed to improve when Rasputin was around. This meant that he became a very important figure to the Romanovs and had high influence on many important decisions made.
