Rapid urbanisation and industrialisation (where the economy of a country changes from being based on agriculture to manufacturing) can cause a number of environmental problems.
- Water disposal problems - people in cities create a lot of waste, this can damage peoples health and the environment.
- More air pollution - this comes from burning fuel, vehicle exhaust fumes and factories.
- More water pollution - pollutants from cities into rivers cause health problems and wildlife can be harmed.
