Types of conformity

Compliance: when a person conforms and agrees to seek a favourable reaction from others around them, even though they may not agree with behaviours/attitudes

Internalisation: occurs when a person agrees becuase they do agree with the behaviours/attitudes being displayed, as it is constant with their own value system.

Identification: A combonation of compliance, they agree to seek a favourable reaction, and also interilsation, becuase they also believe in the attitudes and values shown by a group.

Explanations of why people conform

Normative social influence: The results of wanting to be liked and be part of a group, by folowing social norms

Informational social influence: Resuts from wanting to be right, therefore looking at others for the right answer.
