The Role of the Unconscious

  • The human mind is like an iceberg (most of its content is below the surface).
  • It has 3 levels: - conscous level (aware of it), Preconscious level ( not currently aware of it but can be made aware), Unconscious level (not aware of ikt at all).
  • Stores biological drives (Eros and Thanatos), thoughts and memories that are seen as unacceptable or unpleasent.
  • The need to statisfy behaviour will influnce our behaviour.
